Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be in crisis to start counselling?

Not at all. Many people come to counselling because something doesn’t feel right, even if they can’t fully explain it. You don’t need a dramatic reason. Wanting support is enough.

What if I don’t know what to talk about?

That’s completely okay. We can begin wherever you are. Sometimes counselling starts with confusion, silence, or simply a feeling that something needs attention.

How long does counselling last?

That’s different for everyone. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper exploration. We go at your pace.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know each other and helping you feel safe and supported. There’s no pressure to share everything. We talk about what brought you, what you’re hoping for, and whether we feel like a good fit.

Is it okay if I feel nervous?

Yes. Feeling nervous is incredibly common. Reaching out takes courage. We’ll move slowly and gently, respecting your comfort and boundaries.

Do you work online or in person?

I offer online counselling sessions, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Online therapy can feel just as connected and meaningful as in-person work, while giving you flexibility, ease, and a sense of safety in familiar surroundings.

How do I know if you’re the right counsellor for me?

That’s what the initial session is for. It’s a chance to experience what it feels like to talk together and decide whether this space feels supportive and right for you.

How long are sessions and how much do they cost?

Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes and costs £50. This time is dedicated entirely to you, offering a calm, focused space to explore what’s coming up and work toward feeling more grounded, supported, and understood.
